Setting: New York City; The Roaring '20s

This is a musical about a girl from Kansas who finds herself in an altogether different world... but her name is not Dorothy—it's Millie—and she comes to New York City not as a hapless victim of a stormy twist of fate, but by her own self-assured pluck and determination...

Without spoiling the plot, Millie's plan takes some turns along the way, and—go figure—true love will present itself from a very unexpected quarter. Then she dies in the end (just kidding).

All along, the six-time Tony Award-winning musical (2002) will be sung and tapped, crewed and accompanied by the award-winning (2006 Best Bay Area HS Production) SMHS Drama Company. This is a classic show from the Great White Way, and we plan to pull out all the stops to do it full justice. Directing will be our own Brad Friedman, and co-choreographing will be SMHS’s Robyn Tribuzi and the inimitable Berle Davis.

Director Brad Friedman said of the show, "I've wanted to direct a farce for a long time, and MILLIE combines farcical comedy - love affairs, slamming doors, a great villainess - with the big songs and dances of Taylor, Becca, Elizabeth & Lauren musical theatre that I love."
